Terms and Conditions

Last updated: 17 April 2026

These Terms and Conditions (“Terms”) govern your use of services and classes provided by Positive Pup Academy (“we”, “us”, “our”). By booking, enrolling, or attending any service, you agree to these Terms.

1. Services

We provide dog training services on the Gold Coast, Queensland, including group classes, social group walks, one-on-one sessions, and workshops. All training follows force-free, positive-reinforcement methods. We do not use aversive tools or techniques.

2. Bookings and enrolment

  • Bookings are confirmed once payment has been received (or, for invoiced sessions, once the invoice is due).
  • Spots in class series are allocated on a first-come, first-served basis, subject to our capacity limits.
  • We may decline or cancel a booking where we reasonably believe the class is not suitable for your dog's needs. In that case a full refund will be issued.
  • All dogs attending group sessions must be currently vaccinated (C5 or equivalent) and appear in general good health on the day. You are responsible for ensuring vaccination records are up to date.

3. Cancellations, rescheduling, and refunds

  • Single sessions and one-on-one bookings may be rescheduled up to 24 hours before your scheduled start time at no charge. Cancellations within 24 hours forfeit the session fee.
  • Class series: a full refund is available if you cancel at least 7 days before the course start date. A pro-rata refund for unused sessions is available thereafter, calculated as session price × remaining sessions.
  • If we cancel a session for any reason (illness, weather, insufficient numbers), you will be offered either a reschedule or a full refund for the affected session.
  • Missed sessions are not generally refunded or rescheduled. Where practical, we may offer homework or a make-up session at our discretion.

4. Payment

Fees are payable in Australian dollars (AUD) and are inclusive of GST. We accept payment via secure online links, electronic funds transfer, or cash on the day. Late payment may result in suspension of services until the outstanding balance is cleared.

5. Your responsibilities

You agree to:

  • Provide accurate information about your dog's health, temperament, and any known reactivity, bite history, or behavioural concerns at the time of booking.
  • Keep your dog on lead, harness, or restraint unless the instructor directs otherwise for a specific exercise.
  • Clean up after your dog at all training venues.
  • Notify us immediately of any change in your dog's health or behaviour (new bite, new medication, new medical diagnosis) before the next session.
  • Follow reasonable directions given by our instructors for the safety and welfare of all participants, dogs, and the public.

6. Safety and conduct

The safety of all dogs, owners, instructors, and the public is our highest priority. We reserve the right, at our sole discretion, to:

  • Refuse entry to any dog showing symptoms of illness, severe stress, or undeclared reactivity.
  • Ask you to leave a session if your dog poses a safety risk that cannot be managed in a group setting, or if you fail to follow instructor directions.
  • Move you or your dog to a more appropriate service (for example, from group class to one-on-one) if that better supports your dog's needs.

In the case of removal for safety reasons, any refund will be at our reasonable discretion, taking into account the circumstances.

7. Liability

You attend all sessions at your own risk. Dogs are animals and behaviour can be unpredictable. You are responsible for your dog's actions, including any injury or damage caused to other dogs, people, or property. We strongly recommend maintaining current public liability insurance for your dog.

To the maximum extent permitted by law, Positive Pup Academy's total liability for any claim arising from or relating to our services is limited to the fees paid for the specific service that gave rise to the claim. Nothing in these Terms excludes or limits rights you have under the Australian Consumer Law that cannot lawfully be excluded.

8. Consumer guarantees

Our services come with consumer guarantees that cannot be excluded under the Australian Consumer Law. If a service fails to meet a consumer guarantee, you may be entitled to a re-supply of the service or a refund.

9. Photography and media

From time to time we may take photos or video of sessions for internal record, training review, or promotional purposes. We will ask for your separate written consent before using any identifiable image of you or your dog publicly. You may withdraw that consent at any time by contacting us.

10. Privacy

Our handling of your personal information is set out in our Privacy Policy.

11. Changes to these Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. The current version will always be available on this page. Material changes will take effect for new bookings from the “Last updated” date shown above. Your continued use of our services after that date indicates acceptance of the updated Terms.

12. Governing law

These Terms are governed by the laws of Queensland, Australia. Any dispute will be heard in the courts of Queensland.
